Really, Who Are These People

I guess it is just my day.

I followed a tweet about the Rhonda Byrne lawsuit and it lead me to an article by Gay Hendricks. The article was very interesting, but I couldn't help but chuckle about the pot and the kettle. Hendricks was talking about integrity.

I know we are all flawed. I am intensely flawed. I just don't happen to make a living talking about other people being flawed. And I don't use a degree in psychology to support my personal prejudice and beliefs. It is amazing to me the people that Guy Hendricks likes, all pass his respected opinion. But those he doesn't agree with all have serious psychological problems. It works magically.

So what's my beef with Hendricks besides his opinions? Simple integrity.

Last year, I subscribed to one of their personal training programs. It is run by the Illumination University, a company that touts it was co-founded by Gay Hendricks. It was a good program, but the technology behind serving up the data was a little flaky. Not a big deal, but looked light on technology investment.

I lost my password. Usually that is not a problem, usually there is a "can't remember my password" button. This one at Illumination University doesn't work. (name changed below to protect my privacy)

After many attempts, I dug out my email receipt for the program and wrote a letter to  the contact link in the e-mail.   I received a nice, but emphatic note from a Chris Hendricks.  He told me to contact Gaiam, Inc. directly because they (Hendricks) no longer supported the program.   In other words, figure it out myself.  Interesting.

Hendricks site still advertises the Illumination University and even after they had a site revision.  Hendricks programs are still sold on it.  And yep, there is a picture of Gay on the front page.  But Hendricks doesn't support the program.  He just makes money from it.

It was a small amount of money, but the principle of the matter was huge.  If someone sells something and advertises it, they put their reputation behind it.  I guess Gay likes making money too much to have integrity.  And he sure seems to like to be paid for casting stones at others as well.
